Piano & Music Tuition
The best bit with piano, is having so many notes at your fingertips - a solo instrument with so much subtlety and power ('piano-forte'). Even if you are a beginner, try to find a nice quality instrument, as the music element will be easier to absorb, and technically, an even keyboard will help to develop smooth playing. You may simply want to be able to accompany yourself singing, or play 'adequate' keyboards in a band. Both would benefit from learning how to develop chords in different keys, which can be very possible without having to 'read' music. But you can't fail to pick up some of the music language playing any instrument. It is tone, rhythm, expression and understanding the relationship between keys -as well as practice, which doesn't have to be boring! It becomes a challenge, and very satisfying if you are learning in a constructive way. Adults benefit from having 1 hour lessons every week or fortnight. Younger students, depending on their grades or stages, usually have 30 or 40 minute, weekly lessons during termtime. An initial 'taster' lesson is recommended, allowing students to find out what learning the piano can involve. Maire can then assess how each student will benefit from the lessons. Maire Morgan is an experienced player & teacher, and works with the ABRSM standards and exams (Piano & Music Theory). As a composer, she is able to help widen possibilities for those who 'play by ear'.
